The writer Aurel Scobioala, the illuminator Alexei Colabneac and the publishing house “Prut International” received diplomas of honor from the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) The diplomas were awarded Thursday, November 1, by Claudia Balaban, director of the Library for Children “Ion Creanga” and by Speaker Marian Lupu, as part of the launching of the Books for Children Exhibition. Aurel Scobioala was awarded for his “Book for Smart Dogs”, Alexei Colabneac – for illuminating the book “Punguta cu doi bani”, and “Prut International” – for publishing these two books. Claudia Balaban said that the decision to grant these diplomas was made at the IBBY Congress held in China. She also underlined the importance of books for children and the need to endow libraries for children with new volumes. Marian Lupu, in turn, assured the children’s writers and books producers of the authorities’ full permanent support. He maintained that he became personally attached to events dedicated to books for children, since the books for youth are the most important mean of educating an intellectual generation. The Exhibition of Books for Children takes place at the “Licurici” theater.
