Internal IT market projected to total US$180m in 2015
Moldova’s internal IT market during the next five years will rise by 6.6% to US$180 million by 2015. Related assessments were included in the study “Evaluation of Competitiveness of the IT Industry in Moldova” that was presented last weekend, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the study contains data about the current situation of Moldova’s IT market – the size, structure and the key factors of the competitiveness of the internal IT market in international context.
The main objective of this study was to identify the position of Moldova’s IT industry on the home market and on the world market. The authors of the study also explored the possibilities of promoting Moldova as a destination for IT companies and for attracting investments to this sector.
Deputy ICT Minister Dona Scola said the results and recommendations of the study will be used to draft the action plan for developing and promoting Moldova as an IT destination at regional and global levels and for implementing the Moldovan Government’s strategy for increasing competitiveness and exports.
The study was made within USAID’s Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development Project II (CEED II) in partnership with the International Data Corporation, which is a company specialized in IT market studies. The preliminary study was made public on November 10, 2011.
