Intermittent green signal at stoplights in Chisinau to be replaced with plates
Plates with a green arrow will be put at traffic lights in Chisinau instead of the intermittent green signal. The approach was made by the Traffic Police Division based on a previous Government Decision, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The police consider the method of intermittent green signal should not be implemented. It is better to use plates. They submitted the proposal to the Government and it was accepted. We received the first prescription last year,” the head of “Semafor Service” Foma Molcocean said Monday. He added that the Traffic Police demand that he present a report on the placement of plates.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca criticized the steps taken by the Traffic Police. “The way they did it is not right. They should have discussed the matter and held negotiations so as to reach a compromise,” he said.
The Government approved amendments to the road traffic regulations last November. Under them, an additional signal must be added to the stoplights – a green arrow on black background showing to the right. The signal allows the driver to continue moving to the right when the traffic lights show red, but only after stopping.
