The Ministry of the Interior launched an internal inquiry following press reports that the car in which the eight young people who died two days ago was followed by a police car. The information was confirmed for IPN by the Ministry’s press officer Daniela Belic.

The media broadcast even images of the accident, showing how a police patrolling car approached the scene shortly after the accident occurred. The National Patrolling Inspectorate denied the information that a car of the Inspectorate followed the young men and the pursuit resulted in the violent accident.

The accident happened on the night of August 14. A car with eight occupants crashed into a tree at high speed on Muncesti St of Chisinau. Six young men died on the spot, while the other two on the way to the hospital.
