The Ministry of the Interior of Moldova signed a joint plan of action to exchange experience and train police officers with the Romanian Gendarmerie because the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) is afraid of mass rallies, Sergiu Coropceanu, secretary general of the Social-Democratic Party (PSD), told a news conference on August 3, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Sergiu Coropceanu said that this is the only military plan that was secretized and this is a reason for concern. “The PSD has reasons to believe that the AEI is preparing for a possible revolt as the people are dissatisfied that the Alliance does not want to dissolve Parliament and call early legislative elections and interprets and modifies the Constitution as the member parties want,” he said. The PSD’s secretary also said that he found out from the press that this cooperation plan provides for the exchange of experience, organization of fact-finding visits and training of Moldovan officers at the exercise school of the Romanian Gendarmerie. “Even if the signing of this plan was made known, its essence and implementation remain secret. This fact makes us think that this cooperation is a continuation of the steps taken by the Government to integrate the Moldovan police bodies into the Romanian ones,” he stated. The PSD demands that the Government of Moldova make the content of the plan of action public. According to Sergiu Coropceanu, Moldova has a Romanian presidential adviser who manages the internal and external policy of the Acting President (Dan Dungaciu) and will now have a “commander” of the internal armed forces that will govern the country. The joint plan of action was signed on July 27 by Deputy Minister of the Interior and commander of the Carabineer Troops, Colonel Vasile Dragomir and General Inspector of the Romanian Gendarmerie Olimpiodor Antonescu.
