Interior ministries of Moldova and Romania sign joint declaration
Moldovan Minister of Interiors Victor Catan and his Romanian counterpart, Vasile Blaga on Wednesday signed a joint declaration of collaboration between the two ministries, as part of the visit of the Romanian president to Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In his speech that preceded the signing of the declaration, Minister Catan saluted the presence of his Romanian counterpart in the Moldovan capital and Romania's willingness to share its experience in adopting European legal and management standards in the field.
“I totally support the joint commitment to transform the international relations between our countries to partnership relations and I hope this partnership will be very strong”, said Catan.
For his part, Romanian Minister of Administration and Interiors Vasile Blaga said that the experience of his country will be very useful to Moldova. “We don't want to tutor the Republic of Moldova. Our intention is to share with you the experience that we accumulated in the process of joining the European Union, which will help Moldova take these steps at a faster pace and at a lower cost”, Blaga said.
The Romanian minister also expressed his hope that an interiors attache would be introduced at the Moldovan mission in Bucharest to further strengthen ties in the field.
The joint declaration signed by the two ministries cover issues related to combating of trafficking and criminality, and cooperation in other areas.
