The reanimatology and intensive care unit of Municipal Children’s Hospital No. 1 was inaugurated after being extensively renovated. It was outfitted with advanced equipment and systems and now meets all the national and international standards, having the treatment, administrative and technical areas clearly delimited. The unit also has a modern ventilation system with an air filtering mechanism, IPN reports.

The head of the General Social Assistance and Health Division Boris Gîlcă said that Municipal Children’s Hospital No. 1 is the oldest children’s hospital in Moldova, being founded in April 1884. A sum of 3.8 million lei was allotted from the municipal budget for repairing the reanimatology and intensive care unit and properly equipping it.

The Hospital’s director Aliona Rotari said that about 6,000 of the 10,000 children who come annually to their institution receive treatment there and 500 children of these are admitted to the reanimatology and intensive care unit. Besides the support of the local authorities, the institution benefited from an investment project of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). Specifically, the unit was outfitted with modern equipment for providing high-quality medical services.

The head of the reanimatology and intensive care unit Nicolae Kiskin noted that the specialists and patients waited for such good conditions for many years. The unit has worked for 47 years and a half, while he has worked at this unit for 47 years and four months and knows how things developed in the period. The unit now has everything is necessary for treating the small patients, including appropriate furniture, monitors and equipment for ensuring vital functions.

Attending the inauguration, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the municipality’s goal is to equip this way all the units in all the municipal medical institutions until 2030. About 500 million lei has been invested in municipal health facilities over the last few years.
