The insured persons will benefit free from over 1,000 names of commercial medicines contained in the list of compensated drugs that was made public by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. The included medicines are used to treat cardiovascular diseases, blood hypertension, diabetes, cancer, diseases of the respiratory system and digestive system and a series of rare diseases, Tatiana Zatyk, division head at the Ministry of Health, was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Issue of the day” on Canal2 channel.
According to her, when the decision to include the drugs in the list of compensated ones was taken, the main problems of the health system were taken into account. The children will receive medicines free. “Emphasis was placed on the provision of children aged between 0 and 18 with compensated drugs and of pregnant women with medicines prescribed for prophylactic purposes up to the 12th pregnancy week,” stated the functionary.
“The measure is aimed at maintaining the state of health of those who were already sick or at preventing particular complications as it is very important to maintain the quality of life of the population that suffers from a particular disease, to protect financially these categories of people,” stated Tatiana Zatyk.
Denis Valac, vice director of the National Health Insurance Company, said the list of compensated drugs includes 148 international common names, which is over 1,000 commercial names of drugs. To benefit from free drugs, the patient should have the status of insured person, should receive a compensated prescription from the family doctor or the specialist and can go with this to over 1,000 drugstores to get the medicine.
Denis Valac also said that a sum of 60 million lei is to be spent on this initiative. He noted that the price of the health insurance policy will remain the same.
According to the Ministry of Health, the patients can benefit from free medicines for pneumonia, simple chronic and mucopurulent bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chronic hepatitis, fibrosis and hepatic cirrhosis, gastritis, multiple sclerosis, mixed chronic encephalopathy, reactive, rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, diabetes and complications caused by this, diseases of the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive and locomotor system and other diseases.
