In the first half of this year, insurance companies paid insurance totaling over 391.3 million lei. The sum is by 27% higher than in the first semester of last year, IPN reports.

The data of the National Commission for Financial Markets show insurance paid based on general insurance policies came to 369.6 million lei, representing 94.5% of paid insurance. Insurance paid based on life insurance policies represented about 21.6 million, up 29.2%.

The gross written premiums in the first half of this year added up to 1.182 billion lei, 1.32 times higher compared with the corresponding period last year. On June 30, the assets of the insurance companies operating in Moldova totaled over 4.05 billion lei, an increase of 21.3% on a year ago. The insurance market included ten insurance companies, 46 insurance-reinsurance brokers and 66 insurance agencies, including bancassurance agents licensed and authorized by the National Commission for Financial Markets.
