In 2022, insurance companies paid out a total 958.8 million lei in settlement amounts, 46.4% up on the previous year.

The National Bureau of Statistics showed that insurers collected premiums 2.47 billion lei in gross premiums, a 28% year-on-year increase.

Last year, insurers’ revenues and expenses increased a little over 47% and almost 51%, respectively. Profit/loss before taxation decreased by 8.7%.

In 2022, 10 insurance companies, 46 insurance-reinsurance brokers and 66 insurance agents, including bancassurance agents licensed and authorized by the National Financial Market Commission, were active on the insurance market.
