Insufficient financing limits the activity of health care institutions

The trade unionists of „Sanatatea” consider that in order to satisfy population’s needs related to medical assistance there are necessary at least 20% of resources of the state budget to be allotted for health protection. The chairman of the Trade Union „Sanatatea” Victor Benu mentioned that even lately, the costs per inhabitant increased, compared to 2001, over 3 times, this is far fro satisfying needs of the health care system. According to him, the costs for health care in Moldova are almost 2 less than in developing countries and 5 times less than in developed countries, where per capita in average is 200 dollars. According to recommendations of the World Health Organization, for normal financing of health care system it is necessary that expenses level of GDPs of developing countries to represent at least 7%, being equal to 70 dollars per capita. In Moldova it is foreseen that this level to represent in 2006 only 46.7 dollars.
