Institutions probing April 7, 2009 events to report to Government
The institutions dealing with the investigation of the April 7, 2009 events will render a report on the steps taken until present in a meeting at the Government on April 7. “I did not ask for a report. It will be provided at the request of the victims, both protesters and police officers,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said on a TV channel. According to him, the victims will attend the meeting and will be able to put questions, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The information will be provided by representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of the Interior, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Social Protection and Family, and the Ministry of Health.
Two police officers have been so far punished for misusing power in April 2009. Another over 100 legal cases on the maltreatment of protesters in police stations are to be examined by courts. Twenty-seven persons were convicted of thefts and instigation of public disorder.
