Institutions for children with physical and sensorial disabilities will be endowed with computer labs
Nine specialised institutions for children with physical and sensorial disabilities will be endowed with net-linked computer labs as part of a project launched by the Ministry of Education and Youth and financed by the Orange Company.
The two-year project “Application of information technology in specialised institutions for children with physical and sensorial disabilities” will run until 2009. The project aims to recondition old classrooms into computer labs, furnish them, install computer equipment (PCs and printers), and network it.
The beneficiaries of the project are the specialised residential schools for children with hearing impairments in Cahul city and Harbovat village, Calarasi district; the specialised boarding school for children with visual impairments in Balti city; the specialised residential schools for children with locomotor disabilities in Ialoveni and Hancesti; the technological lyceum for children with poor vision in Chisinau; the special school for deaf children in Chisinau; and the republican school for deaf and hearing-impaired children in Chisinau.
The project on the endowment of pre-higher educational establishments attended by children with physical and sensorial disabilities is part of a broader project, launched a year and a half ago by the Government and Baroness Emma Nicholson.
