Installation of new Government represents step backward, opinions

The investing of the Gaburici Government on February 18 represents a step backward in the European integration process. Such conclusions were formulated in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Roman Chirca, director of the Market Economy Institute, formulated pessimistic forecasts for the Gaburici Government. “The new Government does not inspire optimism. It is not a Government with an ambitious goal. The newly invested Premier will be amorphous compared with his predecessor. In comparison with the Leanca Government, the Gaburici Government is like a step taken backward. Leanca had relations and enjoyed credibility among the European partners,” he stated.

Journalist Vladimir Soloviov also expressed his disappointment with the installation of the Gaburici Government. “If Iurie Leanca is absent, the name of the person heading the Government is no longer important. With Leanca, it would have been interesting. He would have had his own position. Now the Government will be managed by the two parties that formed the minority coalition – the PLDM and PDM. The key intrigue is whether they manage to come to terms with the Communists. It’s clear that the times will be rather difficult,” he said.
