The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will receive nine fire trucks and ten turntable ladders that are to be purchased with a grant provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The Cabinet voted in favor of initiating the negotiations and signing the relevant grant agreement, IPN reports.
Under the grant agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Japan International Cooperation Agency on the improvement of the firefighting equipment, firefighters and rescuers will be trained to use the equipment that will be bought.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the move will essentially contribute to increasing the security and safety of the population, will help reduce the emergency response time and enhance the performance in emergency situations.
The agreement in the form of an exchange of notes between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Japan was signed on November 26, 2021. This confirms the Government of Japan’s readiness to offer the Moldovan Government €10.7 million worth of grant.
