Innovations for social inclusion of children

The innovatory experiences can help the children to easier integrate into society. The issue was discussed in the event “Activate Talks” that was held by UNICEF on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The event is a global initiative of UNICEF staged in over 30 countries, IPN reports.

UNICEF Representative in Moldova Nune Mangasaryan said that 25 years after the adoption of the convention, infant mortality decreased, the children are better protected and have access to more things, but these accomplishments are not equal for everyone. There are yet children deprived of parental care. There are children who do not have the necessary things and the related problems can be solved by innovations. “We must discuss and see how we can use these innovations so that every child achieves their aspirations,” stated the official.

The invitees to the event said the actions they took to ensure the inclusion of children were based on innovations. By these invitations they wanted to make the life of children easier and to show that the people are not indifferent and want to help them. The innovations refer to technologies, social networking sites, television or organization of different campaigns.

Eleventh grader of the Chisinau Lyceum “Ion Creanga” Diana Marusic said that she is fond of informatics and created an application allowing using the computer by giving oral orders as she wanted to help the people with visual impairments. “Each of us deserves to realize their potential and develop the personality,” she stated.

Moderator of the program “In Depth” on Pro TV channel Lorena Bogza said there are many cases when the children are beaten and abused and the role of television is to discover these cases and find solutions for protecting the children by pressing the authorities.  Pro TV has carried out a number of campaigns aimed at protecting the children. Regretfully, things didn’t change much and thus everyone should become involved to support the children.

Bishop of the Church “Protection of the Mother of God” situated in Ghidighici village Maxim Melinti has a personal blog, a facebook page and a collection of sermons that are distributed through YouTube. He said that his actions are aimed at reaching out to people by all means possible.

President of Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova Silvia Radu said the company became involved in different social campaigns. The company’s employees include young people with impairments who enjoy the same rights as the others. “The way we think is the first innovation. Discrimination represents a loss for society,” stated Silvia Radu.

Director of the Chisinau Lyceum “Pro Succes” Nadia Cristea said that she is making effort to create and promote a school where all the children learn to accept diversity and to become fully-fledged members of society.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1989. Aimed at protecting the children and offering them equal rights, it is the international document ratified by the largest number of counties.
