The candidate for President of Shor Party Inna Popenko expressed her indignation at the Supreme Court of Justice’s decision to uphold the decision of the Chisinau Appeals Court to exclude her from the race for the presidency, IPN reports.
“This is genuine arbitrariness on the part of the power, which defense its candidates Igor Dodon, Maia Sandu, Marian Lupu because it fears our increasing popularity and our good deeds,” Innei Popenko says in a press statement.
She noted that the current regime violated her rights as a candidate. “In these elections, we witness the involvement of foreign forces – American, Russian, Romanian – that want to gain control of Moldova. They removed me from the race because I’m against everyone. I want to represent the interests of the Moldovan citizens, not to ‘disseminate’ geopolitical conflicts. Such a court decision is an insult not only to me, but also to all the inhabitants of Orhei and to all those who supported me,” reads the statement.
Inna Popenko was accused by election runner Silvia Radu of corrupting voters and of not declaring all the costs incurred in the election campaign. The Central Election Commission notified the court, which annulled the candidate’s registration as an electoral competitor.
