The agenda of the first sitting of Parliament each sixth week of the start of the parliamentary session will contain only proposals put forward by the opposition. This is provided in a legislative initiative submitted by the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Liberal Democratic Party says the bill provides for the institution of a mechanism designed to ensure the inclusion and examination of bills and other matters proposed by the parliamentary opposition. Plenary sittings will be held to debate these issues. The proposals of the unaffiliated MPs from the opposition will represent up to 10% of the agenda of these meetings.

According to the authors, the bill is aimed at ensuring the more active participation of the parliamentary opposition in compiling the agenda of the plenary sittings. The bill was drafted to support the good European practices by recognizing the role of the opposition in ensuring the functioning of democracy.
