An initiative group will popularize the idea of forming a common list of pro-union and pro-Europe candidates for the parliamentary elections of next February among the unionist parties and the citizens. The list will be voted in secret at a citizens assembly. In a news conference at IPN, Andrei Groza, first pro-rector of the Public Administration Academy and the representative of the initiative group, said the consultative assembly of September 30, which involved almost 70 representatives of political parties and civil society, unanimously voted this initiative.
Andrei Groza said that during several months the initiative group has tried to find a solution to take Moldova out of the situation in which it found itself. “The elections of February 2019 will determine not only our fate, but also the fate of our descendants. The anti-national forces are aggressive, have become more numerous and attacked continuously, enjoying the support of the Russian Federation. All these things happen because the parties and the citizens who plead for the reunion are divided, didn’t reach a consensus and could not agree a method for jointly taking part in the parliamentary elections,” he stated.
Andrei Groza reminded that on September 19, as a result of discussions, it was decided to continue the activity to compile and promote a common list of pro-union, pro-Europe candidates. Until now, only the National Liberal Party designated three coordinators to work on the council that will form and promote the list. “Everyone agrees to run in the elections under a common list, but when the principle of forming the list is to be agreed, everyone suggests the own method. We want new, uncorrupt and upright persons who plead for the reunification of the country to be chosen. The secret vote can help us in this regard,” stated Andrei Groza.
The secret voting of candidates is the principle for forming the list. This will include only persons who cannot be suspected of corruption, who showed that they are upright and firmly struggle for Moldova’s reunion with Romania. “The list is open and all the political parties that plead for the reunion with Romania can find a place on it. This is the only method that can help us have representatives in Parliament. If the parties take part in elections separately, I’m firmly convinced that they will fail,” noted Andrei Groza.
A new assembly will be convened during a month to report on the reached agreements.
