An initiative group that includes the sociopolitical movement “New Force”, headed by former Defense Minister Valeriu Plesca, suggests holding a series of roundtable meetings that would involve representatives of all the political parties and civil society to look for solutions to the political crisis, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on February 14, Valeriu Plesca said the political system of Moldova must be immediately reanimated. The initiative to organize broad roundtable meetings was welcomed by a number of NGOs, including the Association for Participative Democracy (ADEPT), and such extra-parliamentary parties as the Socialist Party and the National People’s Party. Anatol Plugrau, ex-Minister of National Security, told the same news conference that the political situation has worsened significantly, but some of the MPs avoid fulfilling their obligations and boycott the plenary sittings of the legislative body. “They fool us with all kinds of principles and values that nobody knows. Maybe these meetings that we propose will force them to enter the polling booths and vote,” stated Anatol Plugrau. Alexandr Cuznetsov, a representative of the public association “Moldovan Young People’s Force”, said the given initiative is very important as a solution can be found and Moldova will become a state of law. The initiative group proposes holding by a roundtable meeting every two weeks. The first is set to take place on February 24.
