An initiative group has launched the Civic Movement “Moldova’s Young People” and a campaign titled “Union Means”. In a news conference at IPN, the Movement’s co-chairmen said the organization is not supported politically and will not become involved in political projects.

Co-chairman Anatol Ursu said that in a divided society marked by corruption and rulers’ incompetence, it is hard to build a good future for the entire population. “Being aware of this, the young people decided to constitute a civic movement that will protect the rights of the Moldovan people so that they want to assert themselves at home and to build healthy families without leaving the motherland,” he stated.

Another co-chairman Dinu Plangau said they prepared six videos showing what union means, but the national public broadcaster didn’t air them. For this reason, they will sue the company. The young people also intend to stage protests in front of the broadcaster’s building.

Speaking about the projects that they intend to launch, the movement’s members said they want to help a 24-year-old man who was shot accidentally. The young man does not have identification papers and cannot buy a health policy. He is recovering after undergoing surgery, is unable to walk and needs financial assistance. Also, on April 11-13 the movement will stage a working visit for journalists to Romania within the campaign “Union Means”. The application forms can be found on the same website.

The documents for registering the movement “Moldova’s Young People” will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice the next few days. The movement now has 200 members. Those who want to join it must fill out a form on the movement’s website. All the organization’s activities are volunteer-based.
