Initiative group demands stopping campaign to promote European values in schools

An initiative group of the Alliance of Christian Associations calls upon the Ministry of Education to stop the pro-European campaigns in schools, which, according to the group’s activists, mislead and divide society. The group also demands that the lessons to promote the European values should be optional, not mandatory for all the students.

The head of the Association “Pro Ortodoxia” Ghenadie Valuta in a news conference at IPN said that the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the National Youth Council of Moldova, recently launched a broad campaign to familiarize the students with the European values. This aroused negative reactions on the part of parents, who informed the initiative group.

“This campaign and these lessons, which are aimed at improving the image of the EU, try to distort the truth, to present the EU in a positive light, as during the Soviet period, when any criticism leveled at the Soviet Union was censured and penalized. Thus, the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova is violated in a camouflaged way as the official imposition of an ideology is not allowed,” stated Ghenadie Valuta.

He added that for the Christians, the current European integration policies perfectly coincide with the prophecies about the coming of the Antichrist. “The EU legislation, which now persecutes the Christian morals and reinstates paganism, prepares the platform for enthroning the Antichrist. That’s why we consider that this campaign to promote the European values deepens the division of society and discriminates against the majority of people who do not like the idea of integration into the EU,” said the head of “Pro Ortodoxia”.

Alina Andries, a member of the Alliance of Christian Associations, said the Christian values formed 2,000 years ago are endangered by the aggressive promotion of the European values that are about 50 years old and that are disseminated by lobbyists who also promote the rights of the LGBT community of the EU. The parents must be free to decide what classes their children should attend and should not be obliged to share values that they don’t like.
