Initiative group demands not ceding Palanca land
A group of young people who are members of the Civic Coalition for a Democratic and Transparent Government picketed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on Thursday, demanding that the Moldovan authorities should not sign the agreement to make over the land situated along the Odessa-Reni route, near Palanca village, to Ukraine, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We are against ceding the Moldovan land in Palanca and the signing of any document that would allow such an injustice,” said Radu Busila, the leader of the initiative group. He stressed that if the Government of Moldova signs such a document, it will be later practically impossible to recover that land.
Ukraine gave Moldova 450 meters of its territory, allowing it to have access to the Danube. The Giurgiulesti port was built there. Instead, in an agreement ratified by the Parliament in 2001, Chisinau pledged to transfer 7.7 kilometers of the Odessa – Reni route and the land located near Palanca to Kiev.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Piotr Poroshenko said recently Ukraine expects the document will be signed by March 11.
