Many residents of Chisinau are displeased with the insalubrious metal rods inside the trolleybuses, being worried about catching different skin diseases. The head of the Electric Transport Management of Chisinau, Victor Martaniuc told Info-Prim Neo that there is no reason for concerns, because daily each trolleybus is cleaned and disinfected. Martaniuc says that the inside metal rods are disinfected with chlorine, and the trolleybuses are cleaned with special substances. Otherwise, Martaniuc says, RTEC could have troubles with the Municipal Center of Preventive Medicine (CMMP). The head of CMMP, Iurie Panzaru told to the reporter of the Agency that he doubts the sincerity of Martaniuc’s declarations. According to Panzaru, not only that metal rods are not disinfected but neither trolleybuses are cleaned daily, as the regulations stipulate, and responsibility for this activity belongs to RTEC. According to the cited source, the employees of CMMP do not perform sanitary controls of the public transport units, because they are “too involved in other kinds of controls”, but he assures that in the near future the center will control the way the trolleybuses are disinfected. About 270-280 trolleybuses circulate daily in Chisinau.
