Inhabitants of Chisinau apartment block accuse construction firm of destroying their building
The residents of an apartment block located in the municipality of Chisinau fear they will remain without a roof over their heads because a construction company is erecting blocks in the immediate vicinity of their building, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi, the residents of the building situated on 11/1 Cornului Street complain that the solid underground base of their block is being destroyed by the abusive construction.
“The building company “Gonvaro-con” is violating the legislation of Moldova. It did not take into account that the block from Cornului Street has a fragile foundation and any intervention nearby can lead to a catastrophe,” the letter sent to the Premier says.
The people say the firm obtains municipal plots of land, builds houses on them and sells them later at extremely high prices.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the director of the firm “Gonvaro-con”, Pavel Postolachi, denied the accusations. He said that the block of flats from Cornului Street is being erected according to the issued authorization and the building project was approved.
According to Postolachi, the residents have no right to decide how the general plan of the town should look as they are not competent in the field. “I had three meetings with them and explained them this, but they do not understand,” he said.
