Informative guide “Resolution 1325” of UN Security Council

The informative guide “Resolution 1325” of the United Nations Security Council on Women, Peace and Security and a promotional video about the national program for implementing the Resolution were launched in Moldova. These were designed in a move to correctly inform the citizens and the designing process involved players from state institutions and civil society that directly took part in the working out of the national program for implementing Resolution 1325, IPN reports.

In the launch, Elena Mârzac, executive director of the NATO Information and Documentation Center, said the woman plays an important role in the fields of security and defense as she is the one who brings peace and security. “Owing to the woman, the negotiations have a positive impact. Owing to the woman, the security becomes inclusive because different perceptions are presented at the negotiating table when decisions are taken,” stated Elena Mârzac.

Kristina Baleysite, chief of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, said the implementation of resolutions related to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda is an important cooperation area. “We need everyone – men and women – all the talents and prospects of society so as to efficiently deal with the current complex security challenges,” noted the official. Kristina Baleysite underlined that through the NATO Science for Peace and Security Program, the Republic of Moldova is assisted in working out its national program and plan of action for implementing the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said the woman evolved in time and has expectations of the security and defense sectors and these expectations are materialized by effective involvement, with concrete and pertinent proposals and initiatives for ensuring and keeping peace.

According to Vladimir Iliev, secretary of state at the Ministry of Defense, the military and civilian women represent 28% of the National Army personnel. 1% of these are woman who hold executive posts.
