An information system “Medical Ascertainment of Birth and Death” (eCMND) will be created in the Republic of Moldova. According to the Ministry of Health, the development of the information system will contribute to reducing the burden of keeping these data on paper and will allow the automated generation of reports at national institutions and for reporting to the World Health Organization, IPN reports.
The bill sponsors said the eCMND will contribute to automating the centralized registration of medical records of births and deaths in the Republic of Moldova. Thus, it will be possible to create a common database of medical records of births and deaths and generate statistical data based on recorded medical and public health information.
“The implementation of the IT solution for the registration and issuance of birth and death certificates by medical institutions is a precondition for aligning the legal framework of the Republic of Moldova with the EU acquis so that e-health contributes to the development of cooperation and raising of the level of public health safety and human health protection,” reads the draft law.
Also, eCMND will ensure the digitization of the processes of registration, collection, validation, record keeping, report generation, analysis, interpretation and systematic dissemination of data on births and deaths occurring in both public and private medical institutions, at home and in other places.
The draft law on the concept and regulations of the information system “Medical Ascertainment of Birth and Death” (eCMND) is to be approved by the Cabinet.
