The National Office of Vine and Wine, with the support of the USAID Competitiveness Project, and the Czech Development Agency, on December 14 signed a memorandum for implementing the software “National Winemaking and Winegrowing Register”, IPN reports.
“We use the European experience in the implementation of this project, especially of the Czech Republic, where such software has been functional for ten years,” said the director of the National Office of Vine and Wine Dumitru Munteanu. The project will enable to monitor the whole technological process, from grape growing to bottled wine selling. Using this software, those interested will be able to find out information about the wine making process, including what sorts of grapes were used and from what areas. All the wine producers and grape growers whose vineyards are larger than 0.15 ha can be listed in the register free of charge. Otherwise, the growers will be unable to supply grapes for wine.
USAID projects manager Sergiu Botezatu said the financing of the implementation of the “National Winemaking and Winegrowing Register”, together with the Czech Development Agency, represents a natural follow-up of the sport provided to this important sector of the Moldovan economy during the last ten years.
The money provided by the Czech Development Agency will be used to work out the register’s IT platform, while USAID will finance the collection, verification and information inclusion process. At local level, the information will be gathered by AXA.
The project will be implemented by the Czech company Tender System, which has great experience in designing software for public institutions, until the start of 2017. The budget exceeds €1 million.
The project will help winemakers and grape growers to fill out the application for registering the vineyard and production unit in the Winemaking and Winegrowing Register. The registration is made based on the economic entity’s application and the own responsibility statement concerning compliance with the registration requirements.
