Information about candidates for post of judge is confidential
The Supreme Council of Magistrates examined the matter concerning the consultative assessment of the candidates for the posts of president, vice president and judge in some of the courts in a closed-door meeting on March 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. The data about the persons holding important positions in courts are verified by state institutions.
Supreme Council of Magistrates president Nicolae Timofti has told Info-Prim Neo that the press did not have access to the meeting because the given information is confidential.
In the same meeting, the Council decided to suspend the judges of the Buiucani district court Maria Muruianu and Corina Ursachi from posts as they asked for partly paid maternity leave. All the members of the Council voted in favor, except the president of the Supreme Court of Justice Ion Muruianu. He withdrew from the meeting, saying that he wants to avoid 'rumors' as Maria Muruianu is his daughter.
Nicolae Timofti said both of the judges graduated from the National Institute of Justice in 2010. Maria Muruianu was named as judge at the Buiucani district court on February 28.
Maria Muruianu and Corina Ursachi were appointed for a five-year-term. The maternity leave lasts for three years.
