Information about arrested persons will be available in electronic format

The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior will be piloting the interinstitutional information system e-Arrests starting with February 8. E-Arrests is an automated information system that contains information about the persons in detention (detained, arrested and convicted). In this respect, Acting Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim and acting Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean signed an order to create an interministerial management group that will be responsible for organizing and piloting the e-Arrests system, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Justice informed that the e-Arrests system will enable managing the documents exclusively in electronic format, automating the monitoring of telephonic calls, and imprinting the documents registered in the system from any authorized point. Also, the persons from outside involved in the work process – the lawyer and prosecutor – will be notified automatically.

The authority said the implementation of the e-Arrests system will ensure swift communication between the participants in the system and will contribute to modernizing the activity of the law enforcement bodies and to optimizing the work process. The monitoring system will allow automatically monitoring the detention conditions and treatment of detainees, including the decisions taken over their complaints, and will contribute to increasing the level of juridical culture of the public functionaries working in the penitentiary system.
