[Archive] {Chisinau.10/08/2005.Info-Prim Neo/gln/} The news agency Info-Prim no longer exists, Info-Prim reports. Today, 10 August 2005, the journalists at Info-Prim stopped their work. However, the decision does not belong to the agency's team, but to the municipal councilors representing the Christian-Democratic Party and the Communist Party, who destroyed the agency twice: the first time when they voted for its liquidation and the second time when then voted for ousting the agency from the building it occupied on 10 Veronica Micle Street. On their last day of their work, the journalists honored their obligations to the beneficiaries, writing the last news articles under the brand “Info-Prim”. That day in the morning they packed up and in the afternoon they celebrated together with Inga Lachi, who on August 10 marked her 25th birthday and also 4 years of reporting at Info-Prim. A symbol, a mascot of Info-Prim, this college of ours, just like Info-Prim is undoubtedly a symbol of new journalism in Moldova, which cannot be liquidated and will remain standing up despite tendencies shown by regimes. The news agency Info-Prim started on 1 October 1998, on a memorable City Day when the skies were pouring with rain. The story of that holiday was reported by several journalists from the new and unknown news agency, which was trying to find itself a niche in the Moldovan press. Soaked and freezing, they took turns at the one single typewriter located in a small room rented at Antena C, to inform through newscasters at that radio, about the inauguration of the renewed Ismail Street, about the celebrations that took place on that day, about the impressions and the mood of the Chisinau folks, about the contribution of the City Hall to that joyous atmosphere. The strenuous path covered by Info-Prim's team towards earning a reputation on the Moldovan media landscape was ended on May 17 by the vote of the Christian-Democratic and Communist councilors, many of whom didn't even have a clue about what a news agency was. The second blow was dealt on August 4, when the team was ousted from its offices. Starting tomorrow, August 11, Info-Prim will continue to write news stories under the brand “Info-Prim Neo”, which stands for New and reflects its aspiration to contribute to the renewal of the mindset in society and at all levels of government, Info-Prim Neo reports.
