An increase in the number of cases of respiratory infections has been witnessed in the capital city. 57% of the cases last week were caused by influenza B virus, while about 30% were attributed to influenza A virus, IPN reports.
"In the reporting week, there were 4,177 cases of respiratory infections. Compared to the previous week, this is an increase of 14%," the head of the Health Division of the Chisinau municipality Vladimir Bolocan said in Monday's meeting of officials of municipal services.
The flu can weaken the body and increase inflammation, aggravating pre-existing medical conditions.
Last week, a case of meningococcal infection was detected in an adult. Also, a new case of measles was confirmed in a child, the second in a family where the disease had already been identified. Both children are out of danger.
