The number of infections with the novel coronavirus in Moldova reached 140,250. The death toll from COVID-19 stands at 2,871, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

Among those who succumbed to COVID-19 on December 25 is a man aged 34 from Strășeni district and a doctor habilitate in medical sciences, a teacher, researcher who worked at the Ftiziopneumology  Institute “Chiril Draganiuc”. A number of 65 healthcare workers lost the battle with the virus so far.

The Ministry said that 3,275 patients with COVID-19 are now hospitalized and 261 of them are in a very serious state.
