A man aged 44 from Sculeni village of Ungheni district stabbed his wife and their five-year-old daughter with a kitchen knife while under the influence of alcohol.

Press officer of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate Oxana Toderita has told IPN that in the evening of February 4, the man and his wife, who filed for divorce, started to quarrel. The inebriated man punched the 44-year-old woman and then stabbed her for several times in the torso and the neck with a kitchen knife. He also stabbed his daughter in the chest.

The woman and the girl were admitted to the intensive care section of the Ungheni District Hospital in a serious condition. The aggressor was put under arrest for 72 hours. He is investigated for domestic violence and faces up to five years in jail.
