Industrial production in January-June up 6.7%

The industrial production in the first half of this year rose by 6.7% compared with the corresponding period last year. The rise is due to the 13.3% increase in production in the extractive industry and the 8.1% increase in production in the processing industry, IPN reports.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the output in the food and beverages industries together grew by 2.9%, contributing a 0.8% increase to the general growth index in industry. In particular, the production of starch and milling products rose by 32.2%, while of dairy products by 27.0%. The growth in the winemaking industry was 10.8%, while in the fruit and vegetable canning industry – 9.2%

At the same time, the production of oils and fats fell by 90.7%, determining a 2.7% decrease in the general index.

The output in the energy sector in the period decreased by 3.5% owing to the 5.5% decline in the supply of steam and hot water, and the 2.7% fall in the production and distribution of electricity.
