India ready to invest in Moldova

India has a big potential of investing in Moldova and has such an interest, Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Preneet Kaur said in a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca on September 23, IPN reports.

The Indian minister is in Moldova on an official visit. She said that India hopes the two countries will identify new areas of bilateral cooperation.

The Premier said that Moldova is interested in increasing the Indian investments in its economy and in implementing Indian technology in health, renewable energy, agriculture, and industry.

In the meeting, the two officials approved of the cooperation in education, underlining the interest in promoting inter-university relations. An example is the University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics of Chisinau, where more than 30 Indian students studied over the last 15 years. The interlocutors pleaded for the promotion of academic and professional mobility.

Iurie Leanca announced that Moldova is examining the possibility of naming a non-resident ambassador in New Delhi as it is now represented by an honorific consul in India. This is the second visit to Moldova paid by an Indian official of such a rank. The last was made in 1994.

Preneet Kaur will be in Moldova until September 24, when she will meet with President Nicolae Timofti and Heath Minister Andrei Usatyi.
