The Independent Journalism Center handed over ten awards to the best ten journalists of this year and other special prizes in the annual Gala of the Center’s Press Club that was at its 27th edition. Journalists submitted files with journalistic materials to the Center and a jury consisting of a number of experienced journalists from Moldova and abroad decided the winners, IPN reports.
The jury took into account the observance of the ethnic and deontological principles, such as impartiality, profoundness, quality of sound and video.
The winners in the category “Investigative journalism” are Victoria Borodin of “Ziarul de gardă” and the team “Cu sens” (“With meaning”) that has worked for two years. In the category “Feature”, there were awarded Aliona Ciurcă of “Ziarul de Gardă”, Mia Bucătaru of “Oameni și kilometri” and Natalia Titova of “News Maker”. In the category “Talk show/debates”, there were awarded Elena Guțu and Marina Afanas, for the program “Common objective” on TVR channel. The winner in “Long read” is the team of “Oameni și kilometri”, which celebrated five years of its founding, and the team of “New Maker”.
Mariana Țâbuleac – Ciobanu was awarded in “Podcast” for the podcast “Overcoming prejudice”, while Mihail Călărășan of “Oameni și kilometri” got the award in “Photographic art”.
The special prize in the category “Evolution of the year” went to the website “Moldova.org”, while in the “Hope of the year” to Andrei Bordian from Rezina of “În obiectiv”, on a year of its founding, and to Iuliana Volcova of “Bas TV”. The excellence award given to famous personalities for their career this year went to Aneta Grosu of “Ziarul de gardă”.
The event was held with the assistance of partners from the Committee for the Freedom of the Press and the OSCE Mission to Moldova. The Independent Journalism Center is an NGO that provides assistance to journalists and media outlets in Moldova and is the first institution that brought media education to schools. It undertook to support professional journalism and aims to contribute to the development of high-quality, independent and impartial press.
