Independence Day festivities program made public

The Ministry of Culture is organizing on August 27 Independence Day festivities in the Great National Assembly Square, including a concert, dance shows and laying of flowers, IPN reports.

According to a press release from the Ministry, the program will begin at 9 AM with the laying of flowers at the monument of Stephen the Great and the Eternity Memorial. The show will be kicked off by the Ethnography and Folklore Epic Theater “Ion Creanga” with the musical comedic play “The world's quarrel”, followed by a traditional dress parade with the participation of the JOC ensemble and other dance groups.

The country's leaders will deliver speeches at 11 AM and then people will join the Hora Mare, a traditional round dance. Afterwards, the stage will be taken by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic, lead by Mihai Agafita, and an ethno-folk concert by Valy Boghean. This will be followed by a pop concert with the participation of Iurie Sadovnic, Viorel Burlacu, Ion Rata, Adrian Ursu, Vitalie Dani, Ana Puica, Natalia Barbu, Pavel Parfeni and the DoReDoS band. The public will also have the possibility to buy souvenirs at the craftmen's fair Tezaur.

A fireworks show is scheduled for 10 PM. The evening will end with the concert “Let's join hands” by the National Folkloric Orchestra “Lautarii” led by Nicolae Botgros.
