Independence Day: a time to learn to love our land and homestead, Elena Pintilei

Ahead of the 29th anniversary of Moldova's Independence, IPN presents a collection of opinions on these past years, on our country and society. National Library of Moldova Director General Elena Pintilei speaks about 29 years of Moldovan Independence:

"There is only one country where the sky is bluer, the sun shines brighter and the poppies bloom a deeper red. This is the land of our ancestors, our childhood realm, and the land of our children, a place to call home - Moldova. Today, we speak words of support and love for Moldova, we offer flowers of yellow, red, and blue, which are decidedly necessary on Independence Day, now at its 29th anniversary. This Day is a symbol of the choice made by our people, who has undergone and is still going through a series of political, economical, cultural, and social changes," notes Elena Pintilei.

According to the National Library Director, Independence Day should always be an occasion to celebrate national unity, to learn to love our land and homestead, to observe our customs and traditions, which are this people's treasures, safeguarded across decades by our ancestors.

"This holiday should unite our people and awaken in each of us that feeling of dignity, patriotism and respect towards our own country by acknowledging the merits of those who have fought for our country's independence and self-governance," mentions Elena Pintilei.

In her capacity as President of the National Librarians Association, Elena Pintilei congratulates her colleagues in the National Library System. "I wish them good health, inspiration towards new projects and ideas, towards community development, resilience and enthusiasm for their work! May peace, compassion, and love reign in our homes!" she concludes.
