The man who had hit and killed a woman and her daughter on a pedestrian crossing last summer received an increased sentence. The Court of Appeals sent him to jail for five years and added a five year driving ban on top of that, but the sentence can be appealed, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the first court in June didn’t sent the man to jail and only ruled he should pay the victim’s family 642,000 lei. The prosecutors weren’t happy and appealed the ruling, so that the punishment would be more severe.
In August 2016, the man was speeding in a Mercedes near the Codru Nou village, Telenesti district, where he hit a 29 year old woman and her 7 year old daughter. Both victims died immediately.
