Increase in exports and attraction of investment on agenda of Moldovan-Indian relations

Ways of realizing the commercial and economic potential, including by raising exports, attracting Indian investment to the fruit and vegetable processing industry of the Republic of Moldova and organizing mutual visits for businesspeople, were considered by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration , and India’s Ambassador to Moldova with residence in Bucharest Rahul Shrivastava in a meeting, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

“We agreed to promote the draft bilateral agreements for the benefit of businesspeople: to promote and protect investments and to avoid double taxation,” Nicu Popescu stated after welcoming the Ambassador of the Republic of India.

“We discussed the interest of our country in fostering political dialogue, including in the context of the Moldovan-Indian consultations at the level of state secretaries that were set for March 2022,” said the Moldovan official.

The two officials underlined the good relations existing between the two states and the priority areas of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of India ahead of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on March 20, 2022. In this connection, Nicu Popescu thanked the Government of India for the assistance to fight COVID-19 offered to the Republic of Moldova.
