All the incomes of the population in monetary form in 2023 will exceed 200 billion lei and will reach at least 215 billion lei, up 22 billion lei on 2022, said economic expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” Veaceslav Ioniță, being quoted by IPN.
The nominal rise will be of 11.5%, but taking the rate of inflation into account, the incomes, according to the real purchasing power, will increase by only 1.4% after declining by 12.4% in real value in 2022. “This way, even if the incomes are higher nominally, by their real purchasing power we are yet under the level of 2021 and will most probably make up for the fall of 2022 only towards 2025,” estimated the expert.
The Moldovans passed the level of 100 billion lei eight years ago. Ten years ago, the total incomes of the population came to 87 billion lei.
Veaceslav Ioniță noted that the salaries are the largest source of income – 94 billion lei, plus 13 billion lei in unofficial pays. The official salaries were estimated according to polls concerning illegal payment of salaries, which were conducted by “Viitorul” Institute over the past five years. Remittances from abroad are the second largest source of income – 42 billion lei. The sum includes official remittances and also unofficial amounts sent home from abroad by different ways. The social benefits in the form of pensions and social assistance come third with 39 billion lei.
According to the expert, revenues from individual agricultural activities are also among the most important sources of livelihood of the population, with a share of 18 billion lei in 2023.
