The incomes of the population in the second quarter of this year were 2,227 lei a month on average per person, an increase of 9.8% compared with the corresponding period last year, IPN has learned from the National Bureau of Statistics.
Salaries are the most important source of income for the population. These represent 43.2% of the earnings. The social welfare contributed 22% to the formation of incomes, cash transfers from abroad – 17.7%, while the gain from agricultural and non-agricultural activities – 13.8%.
The incomes of the urban population were 1.3 times higher than the incomes of the rural population. The people in rural areas are more dependent on cash transfers from abroad than the urban population.
The average monthly consumption costs of the population in April-June this year came to 2,245.3 lei on average per person, up 8% on the same period last year. Food accounted for 44.3% of the costs. The housing costs represented 18.4%, while the costs for food and footwear – 10.4%.
Healthcare accounted for 5.5% of the expenses, communications for 4.5%, transport for 3.9%, outfitting of the dwelling for 3.8%, while education for 0.5%.
