The scientific book “In Memoriam” that was issued on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the start of the 1992 Nistru armed conflict includes the names of 315 heroes, soldiers and volunteers who sacrificed their lives for the country, and over 200 pictures of them. The volume was launched at the Center of Military History and Culture on March 22, Info-Prim Neo reports. The book appeared at the suggestion of the Reintegration Office, with the support of the Ministry of Defense. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov said March 2 is the blackest day in the recent history of Moldova, while the echo of this war is still felt. According to him, those killed in battle should be commemorated so that a future with a powerful basis could be built. Large-scale researches were conducted, within which there were obtained important data about the Transnistrian war. Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said this album shows the people’s pain and respect for those killed in war. “We must know those who went to war and did not return home, honor those who are alive and promote the cause for which our heroes died,” he stated. One of the authors of the volume Vitalie Ciobanu said the researches to identify the participants and victims of the Nistru war were initiated long ago, but were intensified over the last few months. The book was printed in 1 250 copies that will be distributed to district libraries, military commissariats and libraries of different state institutions.
