In India, looking for pipes for the water main

Between January 26-31, the ADR Centru team is conducting a working visit to India to inspect the pipes and equipment that will be delivered for the construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi water main, IPN reports.

According to ADR Centru, the team of specialists has checked the manufacturing methods, quality control procedures, and production process monitoring to ensure that the products used comply with the project’s requirements.

A subsequent evaluation report will be prepared, and once approved, the first batch of ductile iron pipes with diameters of 600, 500, and 400 mm will be shipped to Moldova. The pipes will be used to start the construction work on the water pipeline.

The project, financed by the German Federal Government through KfW and co-financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, involves the construction of over 53 km of main water pipeline, a water pumping station in Tuzara, and the renovation of several reservoirs. The direct beneficiaries of this project are about 30,000 residents of the cities of Straseni and Calarasi, as well as the rural communities connected to the distribution networks of these cities, according to the responsible authorities.

Currently, all necessary activities for the temporary expropriation of land affected by the project works have been completed, and the process of compensating the affected individuals has been finalized. The actual start of the works on-site is scheduled for spring 2025.
