There are at least 2,000 illegal constructions in Chisinau. These occupy place in parks, courtyards, sidewalks and what’s left to the residents of the capital city, said the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”for mayor of Chisinau Andrei Nastase. In a news conference given at 4 Vissarion Belinski St, he noted that this address is a conclusive example. In dubious conditions, the municipal authorities issued documents for the construction of a multistory block in a residential area without taking into account the rights of locals, IPN reports.
Andrei Nastase said this is not one case of ten, but one case of hundreds. Illegal buildings were erected on plots purchased at derisory prices. Later, the apartments in the given blocks are sold at huge prices. Both the budget and the citizens are affected.
The candidate stated these are cases of corruption and conflicts of interests that should be immediately investigated. If they are not investigated now, they will be when new parties with upright people come to power. When he takes up mayoralty, he will do his best for the living standards and the quality of life to improve.
Vladimir Bolea, chairman of the Chisinau Local Organization of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), said all these cases of illegal or abusive construction affect the harmonious appearance of the city and generate conflicts between the dwellers of new and old blocks.
Jurist Ion Mazur, a PAS member, stated that the plot on which the apartment building was erected on V. Belinski St wasn’t intended for such a construction. It is inadmissible to construct a building with 11 stories when there are three-story buildings nearby.
Mihai Balan, founder of the Civic Committee for Fighting Illegal Constructions who lives in the vicinity, said the locals are indignant at this building that is not the only one. There are three more 11-story buildings situated within 200 meters from each other.
