[The Republic of Moldova at an intersection of years – Info-Prim Neo survey] “I can say that 2009 was a good political year,” said independent councilor of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Mihai Severovan. “2009 brought a general change,” he told Info-Prim Neo. “Everyone must understand that they should contribute to this change. The Government and the Parliament will not be able to achieve great results if they are not helped by the people,” Severovan said. The councilor stressed that the first successes of the present government are already noticeable and every citizen will feel the change. The European Union said it will support Moldova and took the first steps in this direction so that the living standards will start to be improved soon, Severovan considers. He said that everything possible was made in the municipality of Chisinau in a year of political, constitutional and economic crisis. “The municipal institutions provided services steadily,” Severovan said. “I'm sure the latest decisions to increase certain tariffs will influence the quality of the services. Maybe not everyone realizes the necessity of such steps now, but over time they will understand that they were needed in order to prevent the bankruptcy of companies and not to deprive the Chisinau residents of water, public transport, etc. In 2010, we will buy new trolleybuses.” The decision to build a waste disposal plant is one of the most important decisions approved by the CMC this year, Severovan considers. “This project, which is the largest investment project in Moldova with a budget of 300 million euros, will be launched in 2010 and will be implemented during two years,” Severovan said. “Unfortunately, the Communist faction did not support the project, but it will solve many of the problems confronting the Chisinau residents, including the unpleasant smell.” According to the councilor, the CMC will start work immediately after the winter holidays. “We have good cooperation relations with the central authorities and nothing hinders us from doing what we planned,” Mihai Severovan said.
