At the local level, in 20-25 districts, an agreement of principle was reached regarding the creation of a majority in the district councils for the election of the district chairperson according to President Igor Dodon’s statement, IPN reports.
"Despite the statements, in many districts, over 25 if I am not mistaken, today, it has been agreed on the creation of local coalitions between the PSRM and the ACUM Bloc. I am taking the pulse, in 20 or 25 districts, discussions have already taken place about the agreement of principle concerning majorities in the district councils, with the election of the chairpersons either from the PSRM, or from the ACUM Bloc. I believe that in the next days, today or tomorrow, some meetings will be held and some district chairpersons will be appointed," said the head of state in a special edition on Moldova 1 public television station.
In his opinion, this is beneficial. "I proposed that what was done at central level, in Parliament, should be done at local level as well. This will speed things up. This is not to the liking of certain people, and they try to make this coalition implode. And we are not the ones, I repeat that the president of the country, the PSRM has done and will do everything possible, PSRM has already made necessary compromises”, stated Igor Dodon.
The President of the country also mentioned that in the Chisinau Municipal Council "a majority can be built between the Socialist Party and those from the Action and Solidarity Party".
