Slightly over 67% of the exports by companies of the Transnistrian region are intended for EU member states. The Reintegration Policies Bureau ascertained an upward trend in the commercial import and export operations performed by Transnistrian business entities registered with the Public Services Agency, IPN reports.
In 2022, the Transnistrian region’s exports to the EU represented 67.1%, an increase of 10.2 percentage points compared with 2021.
Also, the imports of goods from the EU to the Transnistrian region grew by 4.4 percentage points, from 45.7% in 2021 to 50.1% in 2022.
“The effects of the war in Ukraine and the closure of the border crossing points on the central (Transnistrian) segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border clearly show that the logistics chains were modified and the commercial-economic activity in the region was more pronouncedly reoriented to the EU market, while cooperation with the right bank of the Nistru was intensified,” shows a press release issued by the Reintegration Policies Bureau.
According to the State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs, 2,336 business entities from the Transnistrian region have registered with the subdivisions of the Public Services Agency by the start of this January, with 1,850 of these being registered on a temporary basis.
