IMF staff mission arrives today in Chisinau

An IMF staff mission led by Ben Kelmanson will visit Chisinau during July 17-21. In a press statement, IMF Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova Armine Khachatryan says this will be a working mission rather than a formal program review, IPN reports.

The purpose of the visit is to update staff on the macroeconomic situation and discuss fiscal, monetary and other policies ahead of the second program review that is due in fall 2017.

No concluding statement will be issued at the end of this visit. Such staff visits are standard practice in program cases outside of the formal cycle of program reviews when it is about countries that have IMF-supported programs.
